THIS IS A WORKSHOP ON SOUND

This is a workshop on Sound and its impact on human mind, body and Nature as such. This is to approach a very significant knowledge or way of life that has been in vogue in our subcontinent since the ancient days.

The workshop was inaugurated by the Founder President of the Indus Band Foundation Somali Panda with the chanting of the Upanishads Purnamada Purnamidang and the welcome address. She introduced the vision and mission in regard to the Workshop, SHABD. She explained the importance of connecting our future civilians to the ancient pattern of knowledge
which was based on profound wisdom, pure logic which ultimately has been the essence of all modern-day experimentations of higher scientific and technological pursuits. In this regard she referred to the establishment of the Global Academy, Varsity of Indology & Diaspora, for studying Ancientism, the relationship and dialogues between all the ancient civilizations and their wisdom since the early days of civilizations with a mission to find neighborhood across the Globe, enhancing the power of tolerance and patience among our future citizens for the sustainable lifestyle, walking steadily on the path of Global Harmony and Peace.
The inaugural session was attended and blessed by the speakers and luminaries like Dr. Rahul Varma, Ratnottama Sengupta, Kankabati Dutta, Vante Buddharakkhit, Amalesh Dasgupta,, Shyamal Biswas, Dr. Joyanto Biswas,
The inaugural session was an enriching discourses by impact of spirituality in human life, the elements of sound as cacophony or symphony on human mind, the impact of profound sound which actually can delineate the somber silence in the Universe, the importance of establishing an academy on Ancientism during this present scenario globally.
The inaugural session from 12 to 2 pm further experienced poetry reading session by the eminent city poets like Rajorshi Patranabis, Jagari Mukhrerjee, Rituparna Khan, Godhuli Biswas, Sudeshna Chakravorty, and Ratnottama Sengupta reading out a poem by Tarik Sujat of Bangladesh, the theme of the poetry session being SOUND & SILENCE.
After a brief break for 20 minutes the main session of SHABD, the Workshop began with the enchanting Buddhist chanting and lecture by Vente Buddharakkhit.
The next session was by the magical session by Rajorshi Patranabis, on importance of Sound on WICCAN philosophy and practice.
Following was the session by the scientist Dr, Joyanto Basu on the art of listening, auditory system in human body, and the human reciprocation with Sound.
The next session was by the Vedic Chanting practitioner, musicologist Somali Panda. She focused on the importance of Sound in our ancient literature, Vedic lifestyle, the scientific implications of numerous ancient references of power of Sound. Her lecture ranged from the art and physiology of crating vocal sound or Vani, Vaka, Nada, Swara to the different types of impact of modified and pure sound in Quantum Physics, Medical Science, War technology.
The workshop came to the end at 5-30 pm with a brief interaction with participation by Professor Swarupa Chatterjee, Joie Bose and other dignified participants from the teachers of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.
