"Borderless Humanity - Poetry for Peace" on October 15th, at the prestigious Skinny Mo's Jazz Club.
Kolkata, 15 October, 2023- Indus Band Foundation, a distinguished non-profit organization committed to addressing the profound impact of human migration throughout history, held its inaugural offline event, "Borderless Humanity - Poetry for Peace" on October 15th, at the prestigious Skinny Mo's Jazz Club.Established as a Section 8 company, the Indus Band Foundation has long dedicated itself to promoting better understanding among people worldwide, with the ultimate goal of fostering global peace and harmony. "Borderless Humanity" is a grand step in achieving this mission by exploring the profound beauty and power of poetry as a means to inspire unity and peace.The Poet from Dhaka took the centre stage, captivating the audience with both lyrical words and the enchanting sounds of the six-string bass. It has been a never before kind of event that Kolkata experienced. The power of words, the lyrical lines with punches of raw passion and ecstasy of jazzy rock compositions of MF HOSSAIN, whose stage name as soloist is THE POET, reminded the eminent author Kankabati Dutta of Jibananda Das and Pink Floyd all at a time. The eminent author was in all praise while launching the T-Shirt for THE POET produced by Heavy Metal T-Shirt, Dhaka.Eminent poets from Kolkata, namely, Syed Kawsar Jamal, Amit Shankar Saha, Sharmila Roy, Sufia Khatoon, presenting their works in Bangla, English, and Urdu, sharing their perspectives and experiences in a multi-lingual display of their poetic talents weaving the tapestry of Humanity.The final hour of the evening is dedicated to an open mic session, where young, emerging poets including Sarbani Chakraborty, Madeleine St. John, shared their interpretations of "Peace and Love" with the gathered audience, in a packed hall.Highlighting the event, the Honorary President and the Research Resource of the foundation, Somali Panda, (www.somalipanda.academia.com www.somalipanda.wordpress.com) presented the vision, mission, and ongoing activities of the Indus Band Foundation. She will also provide insights into the upcoming series of projects that the foundation is diligently working on to further its cause.
